A Court of Frost and Starlight
A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.1
Sarah J Maas
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.

Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court.

Before we jump into this review, my best friend Sarah would kill me if I didn’t give her a shoutout. She gave me this wonderful blanket for my birthday a few weeks ago. It’s awesome because it has one of my favorite groups on it and it’s amazingly soft. Also, we all know that I have a blanket addiction. So, I told you I would put it on my blog, Sarah!

Now on to my review!

This was novella was about Feyre, Rhysand, and the Inner Circle preparing for the Winter Solstice. We get to see how everyone is after the war. Some are healing, but others are having a hard time with moving on.

Lawd I had some problems with this one!! But while I had problems with it, I can appreciate it for what it was. It was a bridge between the first set of stories and the next.  I’ve been dodging reviews because of spoilers so I don’t know if other people did too. Like I said before, this review may have spoilers.

I’m going to start this with my main issue. When I started this series it was considered Young Adult. The scenes I read between Feyre and Rhysand (while very sexy) doesn’t read like a YA book! Hell, this read like the romance novels that I read. Case in point:

He purred, “Look at how I fuck you, Feyre.”

“Do you like watching?” he breathed. “Watching me move in you?”

I never considered this series to be YA. Maybe in the beginning, but in ACOMAF? That ship took a turn. We were thrown into New Adult territory. And this, well I wouldn’t want my kids or teenagers reading it. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t.

Now with all that aside, let me tell you that I loved every moment with Feyre and Rhysand. I don’t think my heart can take any more scenes between them. The moments between them were so sweet that it made my heart ache. I want nothing but the best for these two.

“To the stars who listen, Feyre.”
“To the dreams that are answered, Rhys.”

This line makes my eyes water ya”ll! They came so far in their relationship and it brings me nothing but happiness.

I see that a lot of people said that they felt bad for Tamlin. Well, I don’t! He deserves what he’s going through. If that makes me heartless, so what! Speaking of heartless, I still can’t stand Nesta. I thought she would get better since her spark of emotion in ACOWAR, but nope. Still an unbearable character. Elain doesn’t really bother me, she’s just there. I won’t say that I don’t care for her, but she’s very forgetful.

Honestly, If it was was only about the inner circle I would have liked it so much more! And since I’m telling you how I really feel, I would do fine if Nesta and Elain suddenly just disappeared. I want Cassian, Lucien and especially Azriel to have better love interest. They deserve better (yes, I said it!)

All in all, It didn’t live up to the hype I had or the hype surrounding it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because of Feyre and Rhysand and the banter between the inner circle.

  1. THEY DID DESERVE BETTER! And liker I told you in text, I think this book is such a three star read, but after reading this… I honestly want to go change my rating to three stars, too. Perfect review; honest and accurate, love! And I hope whatever you’re reading now is five star worthy! 💗xx
