Strange the Dreamer
by Laini Taylor
My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
The answers await in Weep, but so do more mysteries—including the blue-skinned goddess who appears in Lazlo’s dreams. How did he dream her before he knew she existed? And if all the gods are dead, why does she seem so real?
Welcome to Weep.
“You’re a storyteller. Dream up something wild and improbable,” she pleaded. “Something beautiful and full of monsters.”
“Beautiful and full of monsters?”
“All the best stories are.”
I LOVED IT! I don’t know why it has taken me so long to read this! When I first picked this up all I could think was “This is a huge book, I’ll never get into it.” Well, I was an idiot! 552 pages have never gone by so fast!
I think the reason I fell in love with this story was because of Lazlo Strange. He is a character that I will be holding in my heart for a very long time. While reading this, I became protective of him. I wanted the best for him. He was pure, amazing, and just a joy to read about.
“He read while he walked. He read while he ate. The other librarians suspected he somehow read while he slept, or perhaps didn’t sleep at all.”
“Strange, you’re blushing.” “Of course I am,” he admitted. “I’m a perfect innocent. I’d blush at the sight of a woman’s collarbones.”
I loved reading about his journey. I loved seeing his progression from just a librarian to someone so great!
Sarari was easy to get attached to. Her gifts while awesome made her extremely lonely. She was trying to not be used as a weapon while experiencing feelings of humans that are between both empathy and hating them.
The romance! The romance between Lalzo and Sarai was one of the best romances that I read this year. These two were so deserving of love you guys and I don’t know if I can deal with waiting till October for more!
“I think you’re a fairy tale. I think you’re magical, and brave, and exquisite. And…” His voice grew bashful. Only in a dream could he be so bold and speak such words. “I hope you’ll let me be in your story.”
I don’t think I’m able to fangirl enough about Laini Taylor. The writing was so damn lyrical and just keeps you hooked for more. Also, I don’t think anyone does world building like Laini Taylor. Ya’ll, I want to go Weep my damn self.
All in all, this was amazing. It was lyrical and tore at my heartstrings. I can’t say anything but good things about it. It will be a favorite for me always. I can’t wait for Muse of Nightmares!
Great review as always!!!!

OOOOOh YAS YAS YAS I agree with all of this. It took me so long to read this too and I felt like a damn fool. Sure it’s hard to understand at first because of the purple prose but giiiirrl Laini Taylor bewitched me into reading some more until I get addicted and can’t stop!!
