She wants to see him get wild and he thinks she needs Jesus.
When AJ Adams is coerced into tutoring Brock Larson, she can’t help but wonder what she’s done to deserve such an epic punishment. He’s the very definition of an All-American good boy—and a total kiss ass. He’s the perfect son, the perfect student, and according to rumor, by far the best golfer the university has ever seen. Puh-lease. If he’s so perfect, why does he need tutoring?
With his British Literature grade circling the drain, Brock knows he needs help. But when he meets his tutor, he can’t believe his friggin’ luck. Abby Jane no longer resembles the childhood best friend he used to play hide and seek with. No, she’s all attitude and pink hair and tattoos. Oh, and she hates him, so that’s a plus.
Brock and AJ couldn’t clash more and antagonizing one another is just too easy. But, as they spend more time together, the lines begin to blur, leading them to realize they have more in common than what meets the eye.
Hate. Lust. Love. They all look the same when you’re in denial, and everyone knows you can’t control your rebel heart.
I received an ARC via author for an honest review.Â
“Because at age five, over mud pies, I decided Abby Jane would be my wife.”
LK has done it again! I was so happy to see that she was coming out with a standalone. Her Southern Roots series was awesome and I’m glad to see she brought her humor out here. I was laughing so much while reading this. These two had chemistry and I couldn’t get enough of reading about them. These two were friends when they were younger but ended up going different ways once high school because of an issue. Abby Jane always held a grudge against Brock because of it. When she’s set up to be his tutor, all the shit hits the fan!Â
I adored Abby Jane and Brock! Abby Jane (AJ) was amazing! I loved her attitude and her ability to always be herself. She’s is the type of character that I will always love. I never knew what was going to come out of her mouth! Brock was sweet and my heart went out to him. The chemistry between these two was straight fire, you guys. I was living for this couple!Â
Now there are two reasons that I couldn’t give it five stars. One is that it was a bit predictable. I could tell the plot twist of the book before it happened. Second, it was a bit over descriptive for me. Like are we going to believe that Brock knows what a Burgundy smokey eye and a cold shoulder top are?
All in all, this is a very good story. Even with the two issues I had, it was still enjoyable and I would recommend it if you love sassy women and swoon worthy romance!Â

This sounds like a funny take on the girl-tutors-boy trope that’s so popular in YA! Usually the boy is the ‘bad boy’ but ‘pink hair and tattoos’ sounds like a badgirl to me! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for this one. Great review! 🙂
