Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun.

Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air.

Not that Josh and Hazel date. At least, not each other. Because setting each other up on progressively terrible double blind dates means there’s nothing between them…right?

My Thoughts

“I have chaos around me, but it’s like he doesn’t even care. He doesn’t need me to change or pretend to be someone else. He’s my person. He’s my best friend.”

This book easily made me fall in love with it. I expected it to be cute from the cover but I fell hard and fast for Josh and Hazel.

Hazel and Josh met in college and 10 years later they meet again when She becoming best friends with his sister Emily. Hazel is very out there and says whatever she wants, while Josh is very reserved. We all know that opposites make the best lovers in books and this was no different.

Hazel stole my heart from the very beginning. This girl is a hot mess and is 100% unapologetically herself. I spent so much of this book laughing at her and what she would do or say. My favorite thing about her was that she never once apologized for being herself. I loved that about her!

“I realize that finding the perfect person isn’t going to be easy for me because I’m a lot to take.” she says, “but I’m not going to change just so that I’m more dateable.”

Josh was adorable! Reading about Hazel getting him to let loose had me tapping on my Kindle so I could read more. He was a gentleman and seeing him fall for Hazel left me smiling like an idiot! Also, did I mention he was Korean American? It was great to see a bit of culture here.

These two together warmed my heart! I have never seen two people who belonged together not see what was right in front of their face. Also, that epilogue killed me, in a good way of course!

I loved this and I highly recommend reading this one!

  1. LOVE this review! I just read Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, and it’s definitely one of my favorite Christina Lauren books EVER. I also love that Hazel is completely herself and doesn’t let what anyone says get to her.
