My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

My Thoughts

She was fire, and light, and ash, and embers. She was Aelin Fireheart, and she bowed for no one and nothing, save the crown that was hers by blood and survival and triumph.

So even though this book was a monster in size to get through, it was totally worth it! Ya’ll, this book slayed me! So much happened and my emotions were put through the ringer. I listened to this one on audiobook and read the paperback. Like my review of Heir of Fire, this review is also going to be more character based and I hope that’s okay.

Aelin is Queen and Bae and I’m in such awe of her. Like seriously, I either want to be her or marry her. I still can’t decide. She got her confidence back and it showed. I couldn’t wait to see what she would do next!

Also, Rowan is trying to kill me. By himself, he’s pretty badass. But him and Aelin together? Those two are dynamite.

“You make me want to live, Rowan. Not survive; not exist. Live.”

I have never been so happy for two people to cross the line of friendship in my life!!! Most of their moments together left me smiling like a damn idiot.

Moving on to some of the other characters.

I asked ya’ll if Chaol’s storyline got any better. Well, he can kiss my ass and I still hate him. He still needs to get off his high horse. Some of the shit he said to Aelin really pissed me off. Can somebody tell me if Tower of Dawn is only about him?

Lysandra stole my damn heart! The friendship between her and Aelin was so great to read about. I was wary of her but once I read how far she was willing to go, I was hooked on her character.

Now onto something that people will probably hate me for. I was so annoyed with Manon during half of this book and nobody hates that more than me. So don’t crucify me, I’m just being honest. I was so in awe of her in Heir of Fire, and now…. barely. She got better towards the end so we might be making a comeback.

The action in this book was never ending and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the time I was reading this. We have romance, action, betrayal and so much more.

All in all, I really loved this one so much and I’m so happy I ordered Empire of Storms while I had less than a 100 pages left of this one. can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next!

  1. I’m a bit of a hater on Chaol too! Well, at least I was until Tower Of Dawn. It made me like him a bit better, said maybe it will do the same for you too! Great review 💕

  2. No actually! We don’t get any from Aelin or that group, because that’s all in the next book Empire of Storms, of course. And this is a bit of a spoiler sorry, but Irene from The Assassain’s Blade comes back! If you haven’t read that yet -sorry! She’s a character from Aelin’s past whose a Healer. We get to see a lot from her perspective in the book. And Nesryn too -she has her own adventure for a while. Mainly I enjoyed seeing more of Sarah J Maas’ world, because we got to explore a whole new continent!
