For two sworn enemies, anything can happen during the Hawaiian trip of a lifetime—maybe even love—in this romantic comedy from the New York Times bestselling authors of Roomies.

Olive Torres is used to being the unlucky twin: from inexplicable mishaps to a recent layoff, her life seems to be almost comically jinxed. By contrast, her sister Ami is an eternal champion . . . she even managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a slew of contests. Unfortunately for Olive, the only thing worse than constant bad luck is having to spend the wedding day with the best man (and her nemesis), Ethan Thomas.

Olive braces herself for wedding hell, determined to put on a brave face, but when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. Suddenly there’s a free honeymoon up for grabs, and Olive will be damned if Ethan gets to enjoy paradise solo.

Agreeing to a temporary truce, the pair head for Maui. After all, ten days of bliss is worth having to assume the role of loving newlyweds, right? But the weird thing is . . . Olive doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, the more she pretends to be the luckiest woman alive, the more it feels like she might be.

thoughtssAnother one bites the dust. I wanted to love this one so much, especially after my dislike of My Half Night Stand. Everything was set up to make me think that this was going to be a new favorite for me. That cover, enemies to lovers, and a destination romance.

Where the majority of this fell flat for me was the romance. I just honestly didn’t feel any chemistry between these two. And that sucks so badly. I was waiting for all the angst of hating/loving someone vibes and ended up empty handed. You could have told me that this was a book about two people who misread each other on their first meeting and became friends and I would’ve believed you. Now that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy their friendship! I really enjoyed when they got to know each other and realize that they had more in common than they thought.

Jumping to another topic really quickly, I was surprised by the fade to black scenes here. I’m so used to their sexy time scenes that I wasn’t really sure how I felt about it fading to black. Honestly, we all know I’m perv so I’m lowkey disappointed by it lol!

What really took this from a 3 star rating down to 2 stars was “the conflict” towards the end. There is some drama that goes on that really raised my eyebrows. I can’t go into too much without saying spoilers but I really expected better from some of these characters.

All in all, I just expected more from this book. Especially, romance and character wise.

✨I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

    1. I know quite a few people who enjoy fade to black scenes. I felt like a perv saying that I was surprised about them lol! However, I felt like I should since I always talk about steamy scenes in my other reviews.

I do hope that you enjoy this one when you get to it!

  1. Oof! I was really hoping that this one would be the saving grace for the duo for me, but based off your review I think I’m gonna slide this one off my TBR until I am hella desperate for a read lmao. Sorry you didn’t enjoy this one as much as you hoped! Fingers crossed your next read is a panty dropper! ❤
