Drawn into Love gave me something sweet and it ends in a happy ending. You should know by know that ARR is one of my go to authors for romance. She writes the alpha males that I love and always gives me something sweet and steamy. I almost forget to mention that this had one of my favorite tropes: single dad romance!

Drawn into Love was a story about two people who both had crappy marriages and get a second chance at love with each other. From the beginning, I loved our main characters, Courtney and Lucas. It took me a while to remember but Lucas is Levi’s (from Running into Love) brother. Anywho, When I said that these two had crappy marriages, I really meant it. We meet Courtney’s ex-husband at the very start of this book and I immediately wanted to punch him in the balls. Likewise when we met, Lucas’ ex-wife.

The chemistry and attraction were there from the very beginning just like you expect from an ARR book. There was low angst and that’s always a plus for me! I loved reading about Lucas and Courtney getting a second chance at love and his daughter was too adorable for words!

This was a good ending to this series and I’m a little sad that we have to say goodbye.

Cruel by Coralee June

TITLE: Cruel
AUTHOR: Coralee June & Raven Kennedy
RATING: ⭐⭐
Goodreads | Amazon (KU)

I really don’t much have to say in a review for this one. I love the bullying trope, but this one really kind of pushed me the wrong way. Honestly, it felt a bit all over the place to me. Their reasoning for all the cruel things that happened to her was crap and I expected them to at least have to grovel or really apologize.

Scarlett was such a weak doormat heroine that I couldn’t even really make sense of it. As much shit as she talked and for how physically strong she was supposed to be, I don’t get how she let this go on for so long. Even when they orchestrated all this crap for this long, she still wanted them. Still loved Rouge. Girl, just no! They called you trash and literally threw thrash on you. GTFO!

Like I said before, I’m all for bullying book but these characters never redeemed themselves and the plot was also a put unrealistic.

16070903TITLE: Fallen Too Far
AUTHOR: Abbi Glines
SERIES: Rosemary Beach
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (reread)
Goodreads | Amazon (KU)

I read this book back in 2015 and loved it. However, I hadn’t read it since then and I was scared that it wouldn’t hold up for me now. I’m so happy to say that it did and I will always love Rush and Blair!

Fallen Too Far was the first New Adult book that I read so it will always be nostalgic to me. Did that influence me rating it 5 stars in 2019? Maybe, but I honestly don’t care. Is this problematic as shit? Hell yes, but as I said before, I really don’t care.

Now that I’ve reread this one, I feel like I need to reread the other two. Although, this one is definitely my favorite of the first three books in the rosemary beach series.

So there are some of the recently read romances that I’ve reviewed. Have you read any of these? If so, what were your thoughts?

  1. Great reviews, Kayla! I haven’t read any of these books! I’m sorry you didn’t love Cruel! I like a good bully romance too but absolutely hate when there’s no grovelling and the heroine quickly forgives the hero in the end. Doormat heroines are my major book turn-off’s!
