One old farmhouse brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Gigi has just uprooted her whole world to start a new life. The unexpected gift of a farmhouse in small-town Montana is just what she and her daughter need to escape big-city loneliness. The last thing she needs is attitude from the town’s sheriff, the most perfectly attractive and ruggedly handsome man she’s ever laid eyes on—and a complete jerk.

Jess knows all about women like Gigi. Beautiful. Sexy. Scheming. She’s stolen his sanctuary, the farmhouse that should have been his. But along with a face full of freckles, she’s got a sharp wit and a backbone of steel—something he doesn’t discover until after making a complete fool of himself. If he can earn back her trust and win her heart, he might just find the home he’s always needed.

MY feelingsThis is my first read from Devney Perry and I didn’t know what to expect. I have been seeing other readers praising her books but haven’t had the chance to read them myself. I recently found out that the author put this series on Kindle Unlimited for a limited time so I decided it couldn’t hurt to try it. Well to everyone who has recommended this book to me, I really enjoyed it! I was absorbed into this story almost as soon I started reading it. Even though this is a romance, we do have a bit of suspense. Someone in the small town is pushing drugs and also has a meth lab.

When these two characters meet it is so far from being called a meet cute. Jess was a straight up asshole to Georgia and it’s for reasons that weren’t even true. I couldn’t wait to see how he was going to get on her good side and make up for all the harsh crap that he said to her in the beginning. His solution? Let his alpha side shine through and make her his woman.

I know that some people don’t like overly alpha males in their contemporary, but I can’t get enough them! I love a man who knows what he wants and is very dominant in nature. I know that not everyone is going to love Jess because he is alpha times like 100! Not to worry though, Georgia made sure to call him out on it quite a bit. These two had chemistry from the beginning. Even in the early days when Jess a complete asshole, he was fighting attraction for Georgia. The steamy scenes between these two were HOT HOT!

My favorite character in this book has to be Georgia’s daughter Rowen. She stole my heart and never gave it back. I loved the relationship she had with her mother and the one that she made with Jess. She was adorable, sweet, and real. When she had a breakdown about missing Ben, my heart was breaking with her even though this was about a fictional character.

Now on to the reason why this book is sitting at 4 stars instead of 5. There were times while reading this where it got pretty slow. Nothing to make me skim through but enough for me notice. I also figured out who the killer was really early on while reading.

So if you like small town romance, alpha heroes, and steamy romance then you should definitely give this one a read!4 Star Rating
