Boss of Me

They said you were ruthless, impossible to please…
I said I was better than them.
I wouldn’t fall for your charm, your arrogance, or how sexy you fill out that suit.
I wouldn’t fall for your deep brown eyes or the way that muscle moves in your square jaw when you’re pissed.
I was wrong…
(BOSS OF ME is a STAND-ALONE workplace, enemies to lovers, military romance with a badass alpha boss and the feisty woman who steals his heart. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)
This wasn’t my favorite from Tia Louise, but I did enjoy it. We have a broody hero and a spitfire heroine who wasn’t scared to toss his crap right back at him.
Office romances are one of my favorite tropes to read about and this was very entertaining with that vibe of forbidden that you would expect. Raquel and Patton had so much chemistry that it kept you reading to see when they would give in.
As usual Louise’s writing was really amazing. She knows how to hook you but also give you that banter that’s addictive to read. I felt like this one took a more mystery and more emotional role than the others. It goes over grief and how different people choose to grieve. It also shows how some soldiers struggle coming back from duty and how that interferes with their everyday lives.
There was something about this to keep me from loving it and I can’t tell if it was all of the emotional scenes or the way some actions were handled. I guess it would be a little bit of both. I will say that this epilogue squeezed my heart and made me smile!
While I didn’t love it, it was a good read! If you love a good office romance and love great writing then I recommend this. Also, we are getting a book about Taron and I’m so very excited about his story next!
TW: Grief; acts of suicide; acts & talks of sexual harassment; drug use
✨I received an ARC via the author for an honest review.

Office romance mixed with enemies to lovers trope is my favorite combination. This sounds like a good read! I’m sorry you didn’t completely love it but I’m glad you overall enjoyed it. Great review!

I find it so frustrating sometimes when there is something that does not work for us in a book but we can’t really put our finger on it Kayla!

I’m glad I read your review on this one. I keep seeing it and wondering if I wanted to read it. I’ve read her stuff before and enjoyed it, but I think I’m going to pass after reading your review.

If you like office romance then I would still give it a try. I was just taken back by some of the actions here. There will be a new release from her in January about one the characters from this book and I’m hoping that I enjoy that one more.
