The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida—and it’s sending waves crashing through Sabrina “Bree” Beckham’s love life…
When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island—as well as its connection to the mainland—twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn’t worried . . . at first. She’s already escaped one storm—her emotionally abusive ex—so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake.
But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets. Now it’s up to her to save as many of Little Bridge’s cats and dogs as she can . . . but to do so, she’s going to need help—help she has no choice but to accept from her boss’s sexy nephew, Drew Hartwell, the Mermaid Café’s most notorious heartbreaker.
But when Bree starts falling for Drew, just as Little Bridge’s power is restored and her penitent ex shows up, she has to ask herself if her island fling was only a result of the stormy weather, or if it could last during clear skies too.
I went into this book with no expectations and I think that it was the best thing I could have ever done. I’m more familiar with Meg Cabots YA work so I went into this one only knowing that it was about saving animals during a hurricane. Even though the reviews I’ve read aren’t great, I ended up really enjoying this!
This book is really character driven and is very heavy on the plot of the hurricane. I’ve seen reviews where people complain about that but I can’t fathom how they didn’t get that from the synopsis or the cover.
This story takes place over a few days before, throughout, and the aftermath of a hurricane. I fell in love with the town of Little Bridge and all of its weird and quirky residents. If this place wasn’t fictional I would like to take a summer vacation there. I have always loved small towns, so maybe I’m biased there.
Our main character Bree charmed me instantly. She was just a girl who died her hair pink and moved from NYC to find herself. She was so relatable and had just the right amount of a sarcastic streak to make me want to be friends with her. Something made her run from New York and it was great to read about her coming into her own and overcoming her problems.
I enjoyed the relationship between Drew and Bree! They had a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe going on and I loved the sarcasm that these two kept throwing around. They had chemistry and a genuine love for animals that made them perfect for each other. Of course, I didn’t expect explicit sex scenes, but I’ll just tell you that it is fade to black in case you were wondering.
All in all, this worked for me! The next book is about the sheriff and a librarian. (You know I was sold when I saw librarian) I’m excited to see where this series goes!

Glad you liked this one! 🤗 The chemistry between Bree and Drew was great. I was a bit worried about explicit sex scenes after reading the Bride Boot Camp, where things progressed a bit too fast for me. Great review!❤

I was such a fan of Meg Cabot’s YA books. I’m keen to give this a try! Especially as there’s enemies to lovers and animals. I’m a fan of a character- driven plot line as well. Definitely adding this to my TBR. Great review Kayla! 💙 Jen

I love a lot of verbal sparring in my books, especially if there’s a sarcastic woman in the mix. 😀

I really try to not read a lot of reviews before I read a book because I want to go in with fresh eyes so I know my opinion at the end is mine alone and isn’t swayed in any direction. I, too, really enjoyed this one and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series! Thank you for being on this tour. Sara @ TLC Book Tours
