Fix Her Up

New York Times bestseller Tessa Bailey launches a super sexy new series featuring the blue collar men who work for a HGTV-esq house flipping business.
After an injury ends Travis Ford’s major league baseball career, he returns home to start over. He just wants to hammer out his frustrations at his new construction gig and forget all about his glory days. But he can’t even walk through town without someone recapping his greatest hits. Or making a joke about his… bat. And then there’s Georgie, his buddy’s little sister, who is definitely not a kid anymore.
Georgette Castle has crushed on her older brother’s best friend for years. The grumpy, bear of a man working for her family’s house flipping business is a far cry from the charming sports star she used to know. But a moody scowl doesn’t scare her and Georgie’s determined to show Travis he’s more than a pretty face and a batting average, even if it means putting her feelings aside to be “just friends.”
Travis wants to brood in peace. But the girl he used to tease is now a funny, full-of-life woman who makes him feel whole again. And he wants her. So damn bad. Except Georgie’s off limits and he knows he can’t give her what she deserves. But she’s becoming the air he breathes and Travis can’t stay away, no matter how hard he tries…
I have been going back and forth about reading Fix Her Up and kept putting off reading it. It was honestly due to how hyped it was and that I hadn’t read any of Tessa Bailey’s book before. I’m glad I read her other books before starting this because it gave me a look at her writing.
The first thing I have to touch is on is that so many reviews I’ve read say that it was too much sexual content and that Travis dirty talk was too much. I completely disagree. I went into this expecting stuff that was so different from what we actually got in the book. Compared to the other Tessa Bailey books I have read, this is so tame! Yes, it does get pretty steamy but I’ve read MORE erotic things from her. I would rate the sex scenes about 7/10.
Now that I got that out of the way, let me talk about the characters. I liked them for the most part, Georgie more than Travis. I liked Georgie’s personality and her outlook on life. I couldn’t get down with her wanting to be a clown for a living, I’m sorry. That kept taking me out of the story. How she expected people to really take her seriously and she a freakin’ clown is beyond me. Travis was your average macho love interest. There wasn’t anything great or terrible about him but also nothing memorable either.
ALSO, where is the damn epilogue? I prefer an epilogue with my romance, but this really needed one. It felt like it ended once everything was worked out. Did they make everything work? Did they have kids? Y’all, I have so many questions!
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible as I was setting it up to be, but it wasn’t anything to gush over either. Will I read the second book that just released? I think so, but I’m not in a rush.
