My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

my FeelingsI really enjoyed this one! However, It seems like I’m one of the few. I would really call this Twilight 2020. Not because of the plot, but because of the cover and the way that it grabbed my attention. I haven’t flown through a big book like this since the Twilight series. It was a great way to escape real life for me just like Twilight did when I was about 16. So enough about the comparisons, let me give my thoughts on Crave.

This was set in Alaska and takes place in a boarding school. It really gave off classic YA paranormal vibes. The writing was easy to read and that made it easy to immerse myself in the story. There is something classic about vampires and I enjoyed reading about them again.

I enjoyed our characters Grace and Jaxon. They gave off the right amount of chemistry and teenage angst. And oh goodness was there angst!

“He turns me inside out with a look, destroys me with a kiss.”

I also enjoyed the plot. I had my suspicions about who was trying to kill Grace, but the execution was one that I didn’t see coming. Really, my only gripe about this book was that it was way too long! Some things could have shortened or taken out completely.

All in all, I enjoyed this and had a good time reading it. I’m shocked at the ending and definitely will be anticipating book two next year.4 Star Rating purple

  1. I’ve been seeing this book everywhere and have been curious about it. Seems like a good time for it to be coming out, with the announcement of Midnight Sun coming out in a few months – putting vampires back in fashion haha.

      1. Honestly, I don’t really care that much, but I am going to read it. I remember reading the chapters on the internet and wanting more. Maybe I’ll reread Twilight right before it comes out. Maybe not. LOL. You?

  2. I’ve been curious about this book for a while! I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it if it was similar to Twilight but now I’m pumped to read this!

  3. Glad you liked this one even though others haven’t! I’ve seen a bit of mixed reviews and I’m still not sure about this one, ha.

  4. I’m so intrigued by this, but I’ve been put off by the terrible reviews it has gotten. I’m so glad you said you enjoyed it. I read twilight in my early 20s (because I’m old) and even though I acknowledged the unhealthy relationship I was still a bit trash for it!! I think you’ve convinced me to give this a try, so thank you!!

  5. I’m so glad you enjoyed this! I bought a copy right after it came out but haven’t read it yet because it’s so long and I was worried it would be slow, so I’m glad to hear it actually sucked you in pretty well. Haha I like that you compared it to Twilight for that because that’s the one thing I always think of first when I think back to first reading Twilight as a kid, is the way it sucked me in so much even though it was longer than a lot of the books I read at that age! I’ll have to give this one a try soon!

  6. The cover is totally trying to sell to Twilight fans and honestly I’m cool with that! I want to read this one and I’m glad to see such a positive review bc I havent heard much buzz, I just figured Twilight haters would bash it. I have been really digging YA paranormal reads lately, so I’m excited to check this one out. I feel like YA paranormal is no longer as popular as it used to be, so I’m glad to find a recent release!

      1. If you have any YA paranormal recommendations I could use them! I’m looking through older books trying to find some great YA paranormal books. I recently binge read the entire Beautiful Creatures series and now I’m reading Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan that I picked up on a recommendation from a friend and it’s so good!!

      2. Beautiful Creatures was pretty great! I love the whole southern gothic/small town vibes!

I haven’t read Sweet Evil but it’s one of the ones I was thinking about reading soon when looking for YA paranormal books. How are you liking the series so far?!

I actually just started reading an ARC I got titled The Scrapegracers and it’s really freaking good! I’m loving the writing and the witchy dark vibes are great!!
