She shouldn’t get involved with the cowboy next door…
Laid off from her teaching job in the city, Jemma Monroe takes a job teaching in a tiny town and rents a house on the outskirts. A visitor soon shows up at her door—a horse. His owner, a handsome neighbor in boots and a cowboy hat, comes by to collect him.
When single dad Wyatt Langford meets Jemma, it’s the first time he feels interest in a woman since his wife left. But she’s his daughter’s new teacher, so they both know they should keep their distance.
Nonetheless, Wyatt keeps finding excuses to spend time with Jemma, and Wyatt’s daughter becomes more and more attached to her. With them, Jemma discovers the good things about country life, from starry skies to s’mores cooked over a fire. But she still misses her past life in the city. Is there any reason for them to dream of a future together?
Cute. This was cute. You could tell that this was published by Hallmark because it really read like it. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but it’s not normally something I would read. I’m used to a lot more steam in my romance novels. While there is some romance here, it’s very light and they don’t even kiss until about 90% of the book. There were times I just wanted something to happen.
What really frustrated me at times was our love interest, Wyatt. I wanted to thump him quite a few times in the head during this book. He hid behind not wanting to hurt his daughter by getting involved with Jemma. Your daughter and people of the town shouldn’t have to convenience you to go after a woman you want so much. He had his good moments but this ongoing factor made my eye twitch.
What I can say I did like was the town that this took place in. All of the residents were so different and added something to the book. The children that Jemma taught were really cute and I loved reading the scenes in her classroom. The author really painted a good picture and place for this book to take place.
If you like sweet romances with single fathers, then give this one a shot.
Bwahahahahah I see that the hero frustrated you Kayla!

Yes! I can’t stand it when they use excuses as a crutch for them not to be someone

I do like a lot of Cindi Madsen’s books, but I haven’t tried this one yet. I had to chuckle when you said they don’t kiss until 90% because I was just talking with someone the other day about how you know you’re watching a “racier” Hallmark movie if there’s a kiss before the last scene of the movie haha.

I haven’t read this one, but now I think I should. I really loved her One of the Groomsmen and the next in that series. I also read and liked a couple of hockey romances she wrote. I am guessing this one would be good for me, too. I like that it was cute. I need more cute lately.
