Series: Deal with A Demon

Author: Katee Robert
Check it Out: Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Briar Rose might have a name out of a storybook, but she learned at a very young age that no prince was coming to save her. She’ll have to save herself. Unfortunately, even that is an impossible task in her current situation—trapped in a terrifying marriage to a dangerous man.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, which is how she finds herself making a deal with a demon. Freedom from her husband…in return for seven years of service.

She expects the service to be backbreaking and harsh. She doesn’t expect to be put on an auction block in a room full of literal monsters and sold to the highest bidder.

To Sol.

A dragon.

He might seem kinder than his fearsome looks imply, but she knows better than to trust the way he wants to take care of her, or how invested he is in her pleasure. In her experience, if something seems too good to be true, it certainly is.

Falling for Sol is out of the question. She’s suffered enough, and she has no intention of staying in this realm…even if she leaves her heart behind when she returns to her normal life.

This shocked me with how much I enjoyed it! I haven’t read a lot of monster romance or had good luck with the authors’ books. However, I was pleasantly surprised from the cover to the characters.

First of all, can we just get a clap for the cover? Gorgeous. It gives historical romance vibes and I have to admit it’s what made me want to read this.

This story was easy to follow and I couldn’t help but become easily invested in Sol and Briar’s story. Sol was patient and such a good person for Briar who had some emotional damage after her marriage to a human. We got to see Briar open up and get past some of her fears while also learning to speak up and say what she wants. I am also glad that the author didn’t give us info dumps for world building.

Since this is a Katee Robert book, you can expect the spice. If you aren’t comfortable with monster/human sex, then this might not be for you. The scenes were hot and there were quite a lot of them.

All in all, I enjoyed this one and am super excited for the next one in October! *I received an ARC for an honest review.

  1. So, I read this one yesterday and was also surprised by how much fun I had reading it. I was not expecting to like this monster world but gave it a try because sometimes I like Katee Robert’s fantasy stuff. I’m interested see where the next book goes with the whole kraken thing. Great review!
