Staked by the Vampire

She senses me, and that intrigues me. No prey has ever sensed me until I made myself known. But Elena is more than prey to me. I’m enchanted by her. From the moment I look into her innocent eyes, she consumes my every thought, so much so that I spend every moment following her, watching her, obsessing over her.
I’m a creature who takes what he wants, but when it comes to Elena, it’s complicated. I want more than just to drink her blood. I want to possess her—every part of her. But I’m a vampire, and she’s a mortal.
Our story is doomed before it ever even begins.
That still doesn’t stop me from stalking her—nor does it stop me from manipulating circumstances to get her closer to me.
Elena
I think I’m going crazy. I’m paranoid and jumpy. I feel like I’m being watched, but there’s never anyone there. Maybe I’m just overworked and sleep-deprived. Maybe I should slow down, but how can I when I have to make ends meet on top of trying to save up for a better life?
I’ll do what I have to do. Growing up parentless, I’ve always scraped by. I’m strong, and I know I’m the only person I can depend on.
But then I lose my job, and my world comes crashing down around me.
That is, until I’m mysteriously offered a dream job at the most successful company in the city.
It’s going to be life-changing—in ways I never could have imagined.
I’m always up for a stalker romance. So when I saw the hero was a vampire I knew I had to pick it up. This was an okay read for me. The beginning started off good and soon I was waiting for Stephen to come out of the shadows and formally introduce himself.
I’m just going to be honest, Elena was naive AF. But hey, if things started looking up for me I probably would have done the same thing. She could’ve had a little bit more self awareness though.
I liked Stephen and Elena together, but we didn’t get any scenes with them after the conclusion of the drama with his brother. I’m a bit peeved about that. Mentioning his brother, that whole conflict felt forced and it didn’t really end with a bang.
Overall, this was a quick read and made me interested in finishing the book. While it wasn’t a new favorite of mine, I would read more from this author.
3 stars…not bad. That’s great you would still read more from this author.
