Let’s Talk About Wine // The Uprising (19 Crimes)

I have been a fan of the 19 Crimes wine for about a year now. When I saw that they added a new wine to the lineup I had to try it!  This wine pays homage to Australia’s “Rum Rebellion” and thus a portion has been aged for 30 days in rum barrels. Dark with jammy flavors and a smoky finish. That really got my attention! It is also made with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache grapes from Australia.

Excerpt from  We Speak Wine :

“In making 19 Crimes “The Uprising” we selected particular wine parcels for their spice and concentration of flavour providing the wine with great intensity and lusciousness on the palate. The vintage 2016 is Shiraz dominant lending bright raspberry fruit and plush tannin structure with Cabernet Sauvignon to provide blackberry fruits, palate weight and structure and then Grenache to provide spice and fruit sweetness on the palate. The nose has intense lifted mocha, caramel and baking spice notes. On the palate the wine is full and mouth coating with brown sugar, jammy blackberry and chocolate notes.”

I really liked this wine. The taste is stronger than the others (from the rum barrels) but even with it being stronger in taste, it’s not bitter or overly dry. It pairs really good with pizza but also on its own on a long day after work.

If you like darker wines and in the market for something new, pick this up at your local grocery store.
