Love is everything but expected.
Eden Munro came to California for a summer of sun, sand, and celebrities—what better way to forget about the drama back home? Until she meets her new family of strangers: a dad she hasn’t seen in three years, a stepmom, and three stepbrothers.
Eden gets her own room in her dad’s fancy house in Santa Monica. A room right next door to her oldest stepbrother, Tyler Bruce. Whom she cannot stand. He has angry green eyes and an ego bigger than a Beverly Hills mansion. She’s never felt such intense dislike for someone. But the two are constantly thrown together as his group of friends pulls her into their world of rule-breaking, partying, and pier-hanging.
And the more she tries to understand what makes Tyler burn hotter than the California sun, the more Eden finds herself falling for the one person she shouldn’t love…
I was looking for something along the lines of Paper Princess. I’ve been wanting to find another series like that to fall into and always saw this one around. This was so predictable and the characters were one dimensional and immature. I don’t even know if I liked any character in this book. Well that’s a lie, I liked Dean. He was probably the only good person here.
While I could see the appeal of Tyler, the guy had issues and I don’t really understand what Eden saw in him. She was determined to get past his walls and really try to fix him. What I didn’t understand was why.
Also, as much as people hated Anna and the French Kiss for cheating, why has this book not gotten the same treatment? Tyler was so willing to cheat on his girlfriend and keep cheating on her with Eden. While she did feel bad about it, she sure kept being a willing participant.
With the way this ended, it really could have been a standalone. However, this is a four book series? Somebody take the wheel because I’m not sure if I’m up for it. If you don’t mind endless drama, angst, and rolling your eyes a thousand times, then maybe you’ll like this.
I remember this book being everywhere for awhile, but I never read it. And now I’m glad I didn’t! Great review!

Thank you! I kept thinking it was going to really good but man, this was disappointing. I have the second book on my kindle but I don’t know if I can actually read it.

You’re making me glad I didn’t read this one! I’m trying to think of Paper Princess-ish reads and not much is coming to mind. Have you read any of Jen Frederick’s other books? I really liked her Gridiron series. Or her other college series. Maybe you could give those a try since it’s 1/2 of the duo?

I will! I haven’t read any of their separate books, maybe I should try. I hope they release something as Erin Watt again in the future.

It would be fun if they did.
